DAY 4: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22 | UNMASKING PIOUS EXCUSES
Scripture Reading: Mark 7:9–12
Jesus highlighted the legal loophole of Corban; a tradition where people declared their money 'devoted to God' so they could legally withhold financial care from aging parents while keeping control of the funds. They weaponized pious vocabulary to mask greed and dodge the Fifth Commandment. We fall into the same trap whenever we use church busyness or spiritual language to excuse a lack of genuine love, practical generosity, or family responsibility.
Prayer Prompt: Holy Spirit, convict me of any area where I use religious language or church activity to excuse a lack of practical obedience.
Action Step: Identify a practical act of service or family responsibility you have put off, and fulfill it today without making excuses.
