DAY 1: MONDAY, OCTOBER 19 | THE DANGER OF HOUSE RULES
Scripture Reading: Mark 7:1–5
The scribes and Pharisees traveled 90 miles from Jerusalem not to learn from Jesus, but to audit His disciples. Their eyes caught the disciples eating with 'unwashed' (ceremonially defiled) hands. This was not about hygiene or soap, but a human ritual known as the 'tradition of the elders.' Over centuries, religious leaders built a fence of rules around God's Law that eventually superseded Scripture itself. When we measure our faith by human house rules and external checklists, we fall into superficial religion that guards church preferences while neglecting God's mission.

Prayer Prompt: Lord, search my heart and reveal where I have relied on external routines or human preferences rather than genuine love for You.

Action Step: Audit your daily habits today, identify one routine you perform out of mechanical habits and invite the Holy Spirit to renew your heart behind it.
