Looking Under the Microscope

John 1:14 (NKJV)
“...and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father...”

We live in a culture of scrolling. We glance, skim, swipe, and move on. Rarely do we slow down long enough to truly study something. Yet, when John writes about Jesus, he uses a fascinating word: 'beheld.' In the original language, 'beheld' doesn't mean a passing glance. It means to study intently, as if under a microscope or in a laboratory. John is saying, 'We didn't just catch a glimpse of Jesus; we spent years observing, examining, and examining Him close-up.'

And what did they find when they looked closely? They saw His 'glory'—not a blinding, terrifying light that scared them away, but the beautiful, visible manifestation of God’s presence and power. They watched Him heal the brokenhearted, feed the hungry, and calm raging storms. Every time they studied Him, they learned something profound about the heart of God.

Jesus didn't come to hide who God is; He came to reveal Him. If you want to know what God's heart looks like, look at Jesus. He is not a cold, demanding force. He is kind, deeply personal, and overflowing with power. Today, let’s stop scrolling past God. Let's slow down and behold Him.
