Mount Pleasant Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church with a heart for God and His work. We believe that everyone is loved by God and that we as his children should reflect that love to others in our lives.
We believe that God, out of his love for men, sent Christ into the world to save sinners (John 3:16). We believe that Jesus Christ was both God and man, that He was born of a virgin, and that He lived a sinless life as revealed in the four Gospels. We believe that Christ was crucified, died as a penalty for our sins, and was raised bodily from the dead on the third day. Later He ascended to the Father’s right hand where He is the head of the Church and intercedes for believers. We believe He is coming again to this earth to set up His millennial kingdom.
We believe that all have sinned and that Jesus through his death, by his shed blood, made a perfect atonement for sin. Individuals are saved by placing their lives, trust and faith in the atoning work of Christ. Such salvation provides forgiveness for sins, an impartation of a new nature and a hope for eternal life that is entirely apart from good works, baptism, church membership, or man’s effort. Salvation is a result of pure grace.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Person, is God and possesses all the divine attributes. He indwells all believers, baptizes and seals all believers at the moment of salvation, and fills them in response to confession of sin and yieldedness. We believe that it is the goal of every Christian to grow in spiritual maturity through obedience to the Word of God, inspired and infallible, and the indwelling Holy Spirit.
