UNITED IN OUR WORK

Scripture: Nehemiah 3:5 •  Nehemiah 3:12

The phrases "next to them" and "after him" appear nearly thirty times in Nehemiah 3. The people worked in complete unity, unconcerned with personal reward or reputation, and focused entirely on their shared, God-given goal. Evangelist D.L. Moody once lamented that many think the church is a place to rest in a nicely cushioned pew rather than a place to work. A thriving church is not built on the spectator model; it is built when we stand shoulder-to-shoulder in one accord. When we are united in our obedience, neither apathy nor external opposition can distract us.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, protect Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church from apathy and division. Knit our hearts together so we can stand shoulder-to-shoulder in Your service.

ACTION: Contact a fellow church member or coworker today. Offer a word of encouragement, pray for them, or ask how you can practically help them with their load.
