DAY 2: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2026 — THE TRAP OF COMPLACENCY |
Scripture Reading: Psalm 50:21: “These things you have done, and I kept silent; You thought that I was altogether like you; But I will rebuke you, and set them in order before your eyes.”
One of the subtle ways we lose our awe of God is through spiritual complacency. Over time, as we experience God's patient grace and silent mercy, we begin to assume that He thinks like us, shares our preferences, and condones our casual attitudes. We begin to treat the Sovereign Lord of Heaven not as the Holy Creator, but as a casual pal, a convenient helper, or an on-demand therapist.
In Psalm 50, God confronts this dangerous drift directly: 'You thought that I was altogether like you.' When we become too familiar with God, we strip Him of His transcendent majesty in our minds. Over-familiarity breeds indifference. To reset our spiritual lives, we must dismantle our casual assumptions and remember that God is not our peer. He is the infinitely holy King of Kings who calls us into reverent, life-altering worship.
