Day 3: Wednesday, September 16 — Leaving, Not Losing, Our First Love
“Revelation 2:4 — “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.” | Jeremiah 2:2”
Devotional Reflection:
Jesus spoke the sobering word "Nevertheless". Ephesus had not accidentally lost their first love; they left it. They did not stop working, but work became all they had. Ministry subtly shifted from personal devotion into mere duty, obligation, and preserving reputations. When duty replaces love, walking with Jesus turns into checking boxes. Ask yourself honestly: Do you get to walk with Jesus, or are you just keeping obligations? If all your church tasks were stripped away, what would your personal walk with Christ actually look like?
Prayer Prompt: Jesus, search my motives; cleanse me of serving out of mere duty or guilt, and restore my heartfelt love for You.
Action Prompt: Confess to the Lord any service you have rendered out of pride or obligation rather than genuine devotion.
