Day 2: Tuesday, September 15 — A Busy Resume with a Dying Heart
“Revelation 2:2–3 — “I know your works, your labor, your patience... and you have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary.” | Matthew 15:8”
Devotional Reflection:
Jesus commended Ephesus for grueling labor, doctrinal purity, and refusing to tolerate moral compromise. Their church resume was impressive yet works do not equal spiritual health. Like a massive locomotive barreling down the tracks at full speed after its boiler fire has gone completely cold, we can keep moving purely on residual momentum. We sing because we know the lyrics, attend meetings out of habit, and stay outwardly moral, while the fire of personal devotion to Christ has died out. We must never hide a cold heart behind religious busyness.
Prayer Prompt: Father, forgive me for substituting religious activity and routine momentum for a living, burning love for Jesus.
Action Prompt: Identify one church or religious task you do on autopilot, and consciously offer it to God with sincere affection today.
