Day 2: Tuesday, August 18  —  A Grave Like No Other (He Was Buried)

“Matthew 27:59–60 — “When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock...” | 1 Corinthians 15:4”

Devotional Reflection:
Standard Roman practice left crucified criminals to decay or be thrown into common trash heaps. Yet Jesus received an honorable burial by Joseph of Arimathea,a respected Sanhedrin member, and Nicodemus. The tomb was sealed and guarded by Roman soldiers to make sure He stayed buried. But when Jesus was buried, He carried the pollution and guilt of our sin into the grave of God's forgetfulness. He didn't just offer us a pardon; He provided a cure for the cancer of sin.

Prayer Prompt: Father, thank You that when Jesus was buried, my past guilt, shame, and sin were buried with Him. Thank You for not only forgiving my sins but cleansing my heart.

Action Prompt: Is there past guilt or failure you keep digging up? Today, consciously declare that it is buried in Christ and walk forward in freedom.
