Day 1: Monday, August 17  —  A Substitute Like No Other (He Physically Died)

“1 Corinthians 15:3 — “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.” | John 19:33–34”

Devotional Reflection:
We all have dates in history we remember, tragedies and moments of joy that changed our lives forever. But one single event changed the entire course of the world: the physical death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Roman soldiers, who were experts in death, confirmed Jesus died on the cross. His physical death was not an accident or a tragedy without purpose; it was a substitution. Because God is holy and sin must be punished, Jesus willingly took the punishment we deserved and paid our debt in full.

Prayer Prompt: Lord Jesus, thank You for taking my place on the cross and bearing the penalty for my sin. Help me to grasp the magnitude of Your sacrifice and live each day in deep gratitude for Your love.

Action Prompt: Take time today to write down a list of things you struggle with, thank Jesus that His blood paid for every one of them, and commit those burdens to Him.
