God with Skin On

John 1:14 (NKJV) & Colossians 1:15 (NKJV)
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us... full of grace and truth.”
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”

We all know what it feels like to feel disconnected. In a world of screens, digital profiles, and distant interactions, it is easy to start viewing God the same way—as an abstract portrait hanging in a frame, far removed from our daily reality. We might pray and wonder if our words are just bouncing off the ceiling. But on the very first Christmas, God did the unthinkable. He stepped out of the frame.

Throughout the Old Testament, God revealed Himself through distant wonders: pillars of fire, clouds of smoke, and prophetic warnings. The people had a portrait of Him, but they couldn't touch it. Like the little boy staring at his father’s photograph during World War II, humanity was crying out, 'Wouldn’t it be great if God would just step out of the picture frame?'

In Jesus, God did exactly that. He took on fragile human arms, a beating human heart, and calloused hands. He added humanity without subtracting His divinity. He became God with 'skin on.' Today, you don't have to wonder what God looks like or if He understands your physical weakness. When you look at Jesus, you see the invisible God made visible. He is not a distant concept; He is a tangible, approachable reality.

PRAYER PROMPT
"Jesus, thank You for stepping out of the heavens and entering my messy world. When I feel alone or distant today, remind me that You are right here, God with 'skin on' in my life."

ACTION PROMPT
Find a quiet space for two minutes. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and picture Jesus sitting in the chair next to you. Verbally hand over your heaviest worry to Him as if He were sitting right there.
